New students who enrolled for the September Intake have started their courses waiting for the official induction week.
“So far new students have been introduced on some basic knowledge, but the official induction week is set to start very soon in the week of October 14th,” said Jean Damascene Ndahayo, the Career Advisory Center chief.
During the welcome week several events are planned connect new students to other students and faculty.
“You are warmly welcome to the bigger UNILAK family and we thank you for the good choice you made to join us,” Ndahayo told students on their very first day at campus.
He emphasized the numerous studies and practical learning programs UNILAK has to offer.
Students, who are set to join the four faculties available in UNILAK namely Economic Sciences and Management, Environment studies, Computing and Information Sciences as well as Law were urged to work hard, knowing that they are at UNILAK for the primary purpose of learning.
While for continuing students it’s reunion with old friends; for first-year students, there is a sense of excitement and anticipation in the first days of classes.
“We can’t wait to start the core of our chosen faculties” said Emmanuel Nkurunziza, one of the students.
“So far everything is well here at UNILAK, we are grateful to the administration for the warm welcome” he added
Through the students’ union, UNILAKSU, continuing students are using their experience to help newcomers to start new life in the campus.
Registration for the September intake is still open in all UNILAK campuses.
An announcement issued by the university management indicated that admission is open to those who want to join both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
UNILAK has two intakes in a year, one in March and the other in September.
